Catherine "Joyce" Adams

Grovetown, GA – Catherine “Joyce” DeVaney Adams, 92, of Grovetown, GA, passed away peacefully on the morning of November 19 following a recent diagnosis of terminal cancer. Joyce was born and raised in Augusta, GA in the Frog Hollow neighborhood, and at the age of 17, she met and married the love of her life and had four daughters whom they were both very proud of. She was a lifetime member of Greene Street Presbyterian Church and after closing their doors, her membership was transferred to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. When she became homebound, she enjoyed the teaching and preaching of Dr. David McKinley, of Warren Baptist Church, and Dr. David Jeremiah and would faithfully watch their messages each Sunday morning and throughout the week. She had a long and successful career in credit and collections for T. R. Maxwell Furniture Company, Coburn Furniture Company, Salant Corp. and most recently Walmart, where she worked answering the phones and assisting with the dressing rooms. She never met a stranger and always ended her conversations with “I love you MORE!” Loved ones who predeceased her include: her husband, Thomas Harold Adams, her second daughter Catherine Joan Adams, an aunt, Marian Farris McKeown and a cousin, Joseph McKeown. Also included were her parents, Frank DeVaney and Edna Farris DeVaney Miranda (Johnny) and grandparents, Hy and Edna Farris, all of Augusta, GA. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Jane Adams Flanders (Jack), Jean Adams Roberson (Kirk) and Julie Adams Norred (Ray); five grandchildren: Joseph Flanders (Lisa), Mandy Flanders Garrett (Cliff), Stephen Heard (Dena), Jeremy Heard, and Jennifer Spencer Horner (Gary). Great grandchildren: Taylor Flanders, Emersyn Flanders, Skyler Heard, Stephen Heard III, Samantha Heard, and Colton Garrett. Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 22, at 12:00 P.M. at Westover Memorial Park in Augusta, GA with Rev. Dave Dillard officiating. The family will remain following the service to greet visitors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Turning Point Ministries, the ministry of Dr. David Jeremiah, or to Warren Baptist Church TV Ministry.
