John Arthur Pritt

Hephzibah, Georgia - John Arthur Pritt, 74, of Hephzibah, Georgia, took his heavenly flight December 30, 2021. "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain (Phil. 1:21)." He was born December 15, 1947, in Charleston, WV, to Nannie Walker Pritt Gardner and John Andy Pritt. John fought the ravages of diabetes for many years and finally, his heart could take no more. John was very fun loving and enjoyed teasing his sisters and brothers, and let's face it, just about everyone. He sometimes had a rough exterior, but on the inside, his heart was as good as gold. He was generous, often to a fault. He loved his family and called often just to check on them. We will miss those phone calls and him giving us a hard time just for fun. John showed his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren by working long, hard hours to provide for their every need and most of their wants. He was a savvy business owner of Lark Utility Buildings & Carports in Augusta for 30 years until he retired. His customers knew him as "Mr. Lark." He loved being surrounded by family, friends, and his church family. John became a minister of the Gospel many years ago when he resided in Indiana. He was mentored by Pastor Long. John pastored various independent fundamental Baptist churches, including Lighthouse Baptist Church in North Augusta for 12 years. After that, John continued his ministry by witnessing in the community every chance he got. If John could tell you one thing right now, he would say, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." He would also add, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesian 2:8-9). Left to cherish John's memory are his loving, supportive wife of 14 years, Sandra; his daughters Joanni Brooks and Jenni Alderman (fiancé Brian Cawhena); stepchildren Robert Carmichael, Loretta Ortiz (Sammy), Kristina Westbrook (Novie); 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; his sister Nancy Haney (Bill); brother Michael Pritt; sister Cheryl Lynn Buckley (Jack); brother Herbert Gardner, Jr., previous son-in-law Troy Alderman, and friend Wayne Garrett. John is also survived by his precious "baby" dog, Faith. John was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Rosemarie Pritt, son, JR Pritt, his parents Herbert & Nannie Gardner, his biological father, John Pritt, sister-in-law Nancy Elizabeth Pritt, and his best friend James "Jimmer" Taylor. Godspeed, Brother! Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM from Faith Baptist Church, 3355 GA Highway 88, Blythe, GA 30805 with Pastor Brian O'Neal officiating. Family will receive friends at the church at 1:00 PM, 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the missionary work of Faith Baptist Church, P.O.
