Gloria Parker

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 24, 2018, Gloria transitioned from this life to her eternal home in heaven. Gloria was born on March 27, 1957 to the late Willie and Virginia Jenkins of Hephzibah, Georgia. She graduated from Hephzibah High School in 1976. She worked over 40 years as a Food Service Manager for Canteen Vending. Gloria was united in marriage to Leonard Parker, Sr. on July 10, 1976 and to their union, God blessed them with two children. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Franklin Covenant Baptist Church. She later united with Thankful Baptist Church. She had an amazing love for her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. But most of all she loved Jesus and remained faithful and dedicated to the end. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Virginia Jenkins; three brothers, Steve, John and LeVaughn Jenkins; and one sister, Christine Weaver. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of 42 years, Leonard Parker, Sr.; two sons Leonard (Shavalette) Parker, Jr., Augusta, Georgia; and Eric Parker, Hephzibah, Georgia; Two brothers, Willie (Alyce) Jenkins, Augusta, Georgia; Tommy (Angela) Jenkins, Hephzibah, Georgia; Six sisters; Janie (Willie) Tindall, Angelee Pryor; Dorothy (Thomas) Weaver; Blanche (Roscoe) Cooper, all of Augusta, Georgia; Elaine Tanksley, Hephzibah, Georgia, and Martha (Charles) Dees, Huntsville, Alabama. Eight grandchildren, including a very special granddaughter, Desiray Parker; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; Doris Thomas and Mary Parker; Hephzibah, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Anthony (Joyce) Parker, Augusta, Georgia; two aunts, three uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Dr. Terrence Vandiver officiating. Interment will follow in Thankful Baptist Missionary Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., at the funeral home.
