Barbara Lord, Sr.)

Mrs. Barbara Ann Bailey Lord (Mrs. William Earl Lord, Sr.), beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, entered into eternal rest after an extended illness, August 30, 2015, at the University Hospital. Her illness became worse after the death of her loving husband, Earl, in February 2015. The couple met in Augusta when Earl was stationed at Fort Gordon , after he returned as a Veteran of the Korean War. They married November 14, 1955, and would have been married 60 years this November 2015. Born March 16, 1938 in Columbia , S. C., Barbara was the daughter of Lydia Jackson Bailey and Sherbert Bailey (both deceased) who moved to North Augusta , S.C. where they raised their large family. When she married Earl Lord, they made Augusta their permanent home. Mrs. Lord was predeceased by a brother, Dan Bailey and by a young granddaughter, Lindsey Blair Lord. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Leigh Lord Waters (Michael) of North Augusta, her son, William (Billy) Earl Lord, Jr., of Augusta, her grandson, Jonathon Lord of North Augusta, and Sadie, the Waters' pet lab who loved Barbara deeply. She is also survived by her eleven sisters and brothers: Geraldine Bailey Parkin, Long Beach, Cal.; Vivian Bailey Weaver, North Augusta; Deborah Bailey Monroe, Augusta; Shelby Bailey Jones, Augusta; Janice Bailey Walters, Tallahassee, Fla.; Paul Bailey, Augusta; Charles Bailey, North Augusta; Richard Bailey, Augusta; Jimmy Bailey, North Augusta; Ty Bailey, Jackson, S. C.; and Bill Bailey, Mesa Arizona. She also had many other relatives and friends. Barbara and Earl Lord were long time members of the Baptist Faith and very active Christians ministering to the needs of other people. They were loving and devoted parents and were always willing to give a helping hand to members of their families or anyone in need, whether it was a kind word or a place to stay, or a task "to help out." They were members of the Silvercrest Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, September 4, 2015, by the Reverend John Kilpatrick, Pastor of Silvercrest Baptist Church in the Chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Home who is in charge of all arrangements. Barbara will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Earl, in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Augusta. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 3, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
