Lawrence "Andy" Anderson

Augusta, GA - Lawrence Anderson, 80, husband of 61 years to his beloved wife, Barbara Bailey Anderson, entered into rest Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 5, 2014, at 4:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Dr. Billy Turner, Reverend Wayne Todd, and Reverend Ron Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mr. Anderson, son of the late Lawrence and Florie Estelle Blackstone Anderson, was a sheet metal mechanic. He worked for 25 years with Augusta Roofing and Sheet Metal, and eight years with Plant Vogtle. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and was an avid gardener, hunter, and fisherman. Mrs. Anderson would like to thank her family and friends for their support during this time. The family would like to extend special appreciation to University Hospice for the great care given to Mr. Anderson during his illness. Special thanks go to his caregivers, Walter, Carol, Sharmeki, and Chaplain Race. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Anderson, and his sister, Shirley James. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Gary Anderson and his wife, Kim, of Augusta, and Clay Wilkes and his wife, Tracy, of Grovetown; his daughters, Beverly Gray and her husband, Tad, of Augusta, and Terry Simons and her husband, Marc, of Evans; his grandchildren, Jennifer Huff (Mike), Brent Yaun, Meagan McCook (Ryan), Laura Ann Shipp (Ryan), Stacy Anderson, Timmy Simons, and Taylor Wilkes; his great grandchildren, Carson Huff, Carley Lynn Shipp, and Cameron Huff; and his sisters, Peggy Poole and Isabelle Snellings, both of Grovetown. Pallbearers will be Wilbur Kidd, Harvey Lee James, Jerrell Kicklighter, Wayne Morgan, Tommy McGlohorn, Louis Schlein, Gordon Morgan, and Gary James. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 3965 Deans Bridge Rd, Hephzibah, GA 30815.
