Lucy M. Wasson

Augusta, GA. – Lucy M. Wasson, wife of the late John A. Wasson entered into rest Saturday, December 28, 2013.

Ms. Lucy or “Hon” as she was known by many, was born December 27, 1922, in Birminham, AL to the late Alva B. and Mable Watley. Ms. Lucy met and married the love of her life, the late John Allan Wasson, September 27, 1941, and has now gone to rejoin him. Ms. Lucy and her family traveled throughout the world but kept returning to Augusta until John retired from the US Army and they then made Augusta their permanent home. Ms. Lucy was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint but first and foremost dedicatedher life to being a full-time homemaker and a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Ms. Lucy is survived by her four children: Robert A. Wasson and his wife, Jenny, of Pleasant Grove, AL, John A. Wasson II and his wife, Frankye of Avera, GA, Phillip K. Wasson, of Hephzibah, GA, and Cindy L. Leisey and her husband, Paul, of Augusta, GA. She is also survived by her sister, Joy Phillips, of Charleston, SC, as well as 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The famil will receive friends at Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, 2502 Richmond Hill Rd, Augusta, GA 30906, on December 31, 2013, at 2:00 PM, with graveside services to be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 3:00 PM. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

    So sorry to hear about your sweet Mom. I have such sweet memories of us all on Wells Drive. My prayer is that the Lord will comfort you in some small way.
