Lori K. Hoover

Augusta Ga. – Lori K. Hoover, 55, peacefully entered into God’s loving care on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at University Piedmont Hospital of Augusta.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 22, 2022, from 5:00-7:00PM at the funeral home for visitation.

Ms. Hoover, daughter of Mary Oetjen Hoover and the late James Monroe Hoover, was born in Augusta Ga. Lori was employed with the Richmond County Board of Education for more than 30 yrs beginning as an English teacher and later becoming a librarian and media specialist. She worked at T.W.Josey, Burke County High, and Hephzibah High School. Lori loved teaching and she loved her students.

In addition to her father, Lori was preceded in death by her brother, David Lee Hoover. She leaves behind her mother, Mary Oetjen Hoover; her brother, Danny Hoover; her sister, Patricia Lynn Frazier; her nephews, Scott Weirich and Michael Weirich; and her two great nieces, Tybee and Lola.

  1. Miss Hoover was such a wonderful teacher/librarian and a beautiful person! Two of my girls were her students and we all are so grateful they had her for Academic Decathalon, her dedication to her job and her students was amazing. We will miss her and never forget her. God bless your family in this time of sorrow.

  2. Sympathy to family and so many others that came into contact with Lori. Dedicated can’t begin to describe her care for her students and staff. Lori cared for her community and citizens also when she was involved with the Gracewood Community Association. Always a smile and concerned about others. Assisted her Mom in so many ways. She is now resting in peace.

  3. I am one of the freshman at hepzibah high, and Ms.Hoover was one of the nicest people I knew there. She is definitely the best librarian I had! I give sympathy to her family members, I am so sorry for their loss.

  4. I went to high school with Lori and have fond memories of her. Very sweet girl. Hugs and prayers for her family members. She will be missed.
