Lillian J. Sims

Martinez, GA – Lillian J. Sims, 86, went home to her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 21, 2013.

Funeral services will be held Sunday December 29, 2013, at 2:00 PM, from Silvercrest Baptist Church with Reverend John Kilpatrick officiating. She will lie in state for one hour prior to services.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Born in Greensboro, GA on March 25, 1927, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, John B. Sims; her parents, Clifford and Emma Hubbard of Greensboro, GA; her brother, Marion Hubbard, of Waynesboro, GA; and her sister, Bertha Parker, of Buford, GA.

Mrs. Sims was the mother of seven children, had 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Her sons: John G. Sims (Kathy), of Martinez, Randy J. Sims, of Augusta, Barry K. Sims, of Augusta; her daughters: Linda Eichfeld (Jay, deceased), of Appling, Wendy Clary (David), of Grovetown, Tina Haggard (Brian), of Augusta, and Debbie Embleton (Les), of Beech Island, SC.

Mrs. Sims was a career Army wife, living on Army bases in many States, including Hawaii. She has been an active member of Silvercrest Baptist Church since the 1970’s. She loved volunteering at the Burn Center.

Being a loving wife and mother, her home was always open to friends, especially anyone in need. She never turned anyone away. Countless friends to her children called her “Mama or Granny Sims.” She loved her family, taught them right from wrong and to be kind to others. We will always hold her in our hearts, as will the many whose lives she touched.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ethan Sims, Barry Sims, Casey Sims, Coty Sims, Daniel Amrhein, Christopher Fick, and Michael Fick.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Golden Ages Sunday School Class.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center, 3675 J Dewey Gray Circle, Augusta GA, 30909.

The family will receive friends, Saturday, December 28, 2013, from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

  1. Randy and Sims family, your Mother was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever
    known, always a smile on her face while telling me she loved me. I loved her too and will miss her sweet face at church. She and your Dad were faithful members at Silvercrest for many years as were my parents. They just don’t make parents
    like ours much anymore. Please know we love you all and are praying for you.
