Larry T. Thompson

Augusta, GA – Mr. Larry Thomas Thompson , 82, husband of Doris Hambrick Thompson entered into rest Thursday, June 27, 2013 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 1, 2013, at 2:00 P.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Dr. Ron McMillian and Mr. Morgan Jones officiating.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons, Ben Lloyd, Michael Savage, Jason Genitski, Jeremy Lloyd, Mallory Lloyd and Nick Gulledge.
Mr. Thompson was born in Augusta to the late Robert and Leola Ditmas Thompson. He was a US Navy Korean War veteran and had retired from E.I. Dupont at Savannah River Plant after 37 years of service in the Power Department. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon and had taught the Men 50 and up Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and George Thompson and his sister Edna Townsend.
Other survivors include his daughters, Catherine Barton and her husband Hinton of Jackson, SC, Lynn Avery and her husband Keenan of Aiken, SC and Pamela Savage and her husband Charles of Augusta, sister, GA; sister, Zuma Wade of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Ben Lloyd, Michael Savage, Jason Genitski, Jeremy Lloyd, Mallory Lloyd, and Melissa Gulledge and her husband Nick; two great-grandchildren, Autumn Rose Lloyd and Summer Iris Lloyd.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
