Lanny Ray Doolittle
Augusta, GA – Lanny Ray Doolittle, 72, beloved husband of 44 years to his best friend and soul mate Mrs. Wanda Maddox Doolittle, slipped away into the arms of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, after a brief battle with COVID-19.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held in the Passworth Cemetery, on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend Bobby Renew and the Reverend Timothy Pendrey officiating.
The family requests that all in attendance wear masks and practice social distancing.
Mr. Doolittle was preceded in death by his son, Kelly Trowbridge; his siblings, Floyd and Donnie Doolittle, Sonya Cannon, Shirley Lively and Betty Eastmore.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Doolittle is survived by his two grandchildren, Steven and Amber; and the light of his life and his heart, McKenzie; his siblings, Michael Doolittle (Shirley), Gerald Doolittle, Rudolph Doolittle (Ollie), Jackie Doolittle (Marsha); as well as a large host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Born in Augusta on July 8, 1949, he was the son of the late Henry and Ada Rogers Doolittle, and had made the Augusta area his home all of his life. Mr. Doolittle proudly served his country in the US Army, and had worked for TRW as a Master Scheduler. He enjoyed fishing, football, the great outdoors and spending time with his family. Most of all he loved ministering to people and was always looking for an opportunity to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to win souls. He and his wife spent 20 years in music ministry and serving in different areas of ministry in numerous churches. He was a kind, loving and compassionate man who was always willing to lend a hand. He was a man of integrity and was loved by all who knew him.
He was a very faithful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was devoted to his family and most of all the God that he served. He will be greatly missed, always loved and we will forever hold him in our hearts and in our spirits until we are reunited again in heaven.
