Funeral services will be held Monday, November 2, 2009, at 11:00 am from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with the Reverend Marion Jay officiating. He will be laid to rest in the family section of Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Anderson, son of the late Lafayette and Myrtle Cox Anderson, was born in Augusta. In 1954 he met Martha Ann Kirkland of Augusta. In 1956 they were married. From the middle 1950’s until 1994 they lived and raised their family on Louisville Road in South Augusta. In 1994, they built their retirement home, slowed down and moved to Hephzibah.
Mr. Anderson was a certified Master Plumber and had been the owner and operator of Anderson Plumbing Company of Augusta since 1968. Throughout his career he was instrumental in the construction and completion of many of the housing developments in South Augusta and Hephzibah. He had been a partner in the Foremans Crossing development. Mr. Anderson not only specialized in new construction, but is recalled by his family as leaving at all hours of the night to fix someone’s leaking emergency.
He enjoyed coon hunting with his sons, always had a multitude of beagle hounds and looked forward to attending the annual field trials in Orangeburg, SC. He was always ready for a fishing trip and a family fish fry or attending a local gospel singing event or just sitting in the quietness of the Tennessee mountains.
In 2002, he and his wife adopted a new pet dog, Susie, who became his constant companion; oftentimes seen riding in his lap around Hephzibah, or accompanying him to the plumbing supply house.
He was a charter member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, he is survived by their children, Lanelle Carl Anderson Jr, Hephzibah, Cynthia Ann Hallford (Joey), Hephzibah, Lynn A. Byrd (Phillip), Fernandina Beach, FL, Anthony Wayne Anderson (Tina), Augusta, Ann A. Smith (Glen), Orlando, FL; a brother, L.F.
