Kathleen Walden

Hephzibah, GA – Kathleen Walden, 86, wife of sixty-six years to the late Reverend Thurman Walden entered into rest Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday September 4, 2021 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Reverend Randy Walden officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Walden, daughter of the late Thomas and Ruth Linnenkohl, was born in Jefferson County, GA, and was a member of Euphrates Baptist Church, Edgehill, GA.  She was a homemaker after her retirement from Keller Chair Plant, and loved to crochet, and work word puzzles.  She had a great memory.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Zepp; her brothers, Timothy Linnenkohl, David Linnenkohl; her grandson, Christopher Widner; her son in law, Omer Mathis; and her granddaughter, Macy Mullis.
She is survived by her children Celia Mathis, Margie Widner, and  Diane Mumford (Wallace); her grandchildren, Jenny Mullis (Darrell), Rebecca Brantley, Crystal Lee (Jason), Tad Widner, Scott Widner (Summer), Wesley Williams (Lara), David Mumford (Teresa), Brandon Mumford (Casey), and Tina Phillips (Tony); her great grandchildren, Brooke Sheppard (Justin), Tyler Mullis (Olivia), Alyson Davis (Zach), C.J. Green (Jenny), Andrew Manns, Blake Lee, Jaxson Lee, Katie Williams, Paige Williams, Charlie Williams, Chris Williams, Sara Williams, Vidalia Mumford, Robby Durden, Erikalee Durden, Memphis Mumford, Cassandra Mumford, Cathleen Mumford, Chenoa Mumford, Brandon Mumford II, Emoryanne Widner, Amy Phillips, Ashley Phillips, and Andy Phillips; her great-great grandchildren, Stetson Sheppard, Arabella Sheppard, Rayce Sheppard, Gentry Sheppard, Layne Sheppard, Elijah Davis, Rhett Green, Oaklyn Green, Noah Frost, Kenzleigh Porter, Taylor Porter, Marissa Porter, Jude Edge, and Jenson Edge; several nieces and nephews; as well as her brother, Brinson Linnenkohl (Dorothy).
Pallbearers will be Wallace Mumford, Wesley Williams, David Mumford, Brandon Mumford, Scott Widner, Tad Widner, and Blake Lee.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 PM until the hour of service at the funeral home.

  1. So sorry to hear of Kathleen’s passing. I met Kathleen and Thurman during Parkinson’s meetings and they came when they could as long as they could. Always enjoyed speaking with them. Was able to see Kathleen again at Thurman’s funeral. Was out of town and just saw the obituary or I would have come to pay my respects.
