“JW” Howell

Hephzibah, GA – James William “JW” Howell, 87, beloved husband of 43 years to Mrs. Mary Ellen Penrow Howell, entered into rest on Friday, November 5, 2021, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at 11:00 AM, from the Chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor David Bohling officiating.

Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Howell, son of the late Gertrude McCoy Howell and William Howell, was born in Glasscock, county, GA. He retired as a mechanic from Continental Can Company.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Long; his brother, Harvey Howell; his sister, Dorothy Todd.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Andy Welch, Ronald Welch, Richard Welch, and Matthew Howell; his brother, Roy Howell (Margie); his sister, Ruth Hilson; 9 grandchildren and 13 great
grandchildren; and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Joe Wilson, Austin Cato, Caleb Troxel, Mike Crawford, Mark Barnhart, and Aron Barnhart; Honorary pallbearers are Cecil Miles, Andrew Williams, and the Boy Scouts of America Post #413.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until time of service.

  2. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of J. W. He was always a kind man to others and to me. He was well thought of and will be missed by many.
