Joseph Hayden “Joe” Greiner

Waynesboro, GA – Joseph Hayden “Joe” Greiner, 87, husband of Marsha Murray Greiner, entered into rest Friday, March 15, 2013, at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 2:00 PM from First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro, 802 N. Liberty St, with Reverend H. Craig Hutto and Dr. Billy Turner officiating.
Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery, Waynesboro, GA.
Mr. Greiner, son of the late Joseph Hayden and Lily Mae Lyons Greiner, was born in Blythe, GA. He served in the United States Army in World War II and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was owner of Greiner Oil Company, an oil distributor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro where he attended the Brinson-Coleman Sunday School class. He was also a member of the Bi-Lo Coffee Club, the American Legion Post 120, and the Waynesboro Exchange Club.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Atkins, Frankie Crawford, and Jean Ramage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Joanne Eichen and her husband, Patrick, of Gainesville, GA, his stepsons, Jack Oliver and his wife, Amy, of Waynesboro, and David Gillis, of Soperton; his stepdaughter, Sharon Neidlinger and her husband, Edward, of Waynesboro; his grandchildren, Jesse Neidlinger, Tayler Neidlinger, Trae Oliver and his wife, Jennifer, and Ron Oliver, and his wife, Christy; his great grandchildren, Bailee Oliver, Dylan Oliver, Kaylee Oliver, and Keagan Oliver; and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Frankie Clayton, Brigham Scott, Roy Jenkins, Porter Cohen, Bobby Bolton, and Brian Murray.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Brinson-Coleman Sunday School Class, members of the American Legion Post 120, members of the Waynesboro Exchange Club, and Nell Mobley.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 18, 2013, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro in the sanctuary.

  1. My deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Joe. He and my mom (Catherine Meeker Daniel) were cousins I believe. I remember him way back when I worked at Taylor’s Drug store when I was in high school.
