What a fight, what a race, Johnny, through it all you kept the faith. Go rest high up on that mountain,
    man of God.

  2. Martha and family,
I am so sorry to hear of Johnny’s passing. He always had a smile on his face for everyone he saw. I remember that he taught at a private school that I went to in the 7th grade on Tubman Home Rd. He would always whistle. I remember I started calling him “Tweety” because of that. I’m not sure he even knew that.
He is now in Heaven with my Dad, Junior Black, and my Aunt Dottie O’Shields. He loved them both, and they loved him. They are smiling and loving on each other now and just waiting to see all of us again.
Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Love to all. God Bless.

  5. Aunt Marthann and family,
Uncle Johnny will be so missed. I love him and have so many memories that it’s hard to name them all. I remember him coming to the house when I was a little girl and setting at the piano and singing and playing for hours. I also remember the last time y’all were able to come down to Savannah, we all went out to eat and he told me that day that the man I had just started dating was gonna purpose to me in three months and he sure did as Uncle Johnny prophesied and just like he said that man would be my happily ever after as Aunt Marthann is for him and again he was so right! I love you all very much and he will be missed so much. I wish I could be there today but I couldn’t take off from work!
