John R. Cook
Evans, GA – John R. Cook, 87, beloved husband of 67 years to Mrs. Donna Jean McCord Cook, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Doctors Hospital.
A graveside service was held in Hillcrest Memorial Park, on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. with the Reverend Sonny Mason officiating.
Born in Millport, Alabama on February 22, 1934, he was the son of the late Lewis J. and Effie McReynolds Cook, Sr., and had made the Augusta area his home most of his adult life. Mr. Cook was US Army Veteran having served during the Korean Colflict. He had retired from his lifelong job as a truck driver from Prax Air and had also driven for McKenzie Tank Lines. He loved fishing and gardening and was a humble and patient husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Cook was a member of Millport Baptist Church and had attended Crestview Baptist Church in Augusta.
In addition to his parents Mr. Cook was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis J. Cook, Jr.
He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Wanda Wallace (Phil) and Diane Brantley (Lenn); his brother, Ken Cook; his sister, Beth Wright Cook;his grandchildren, Jennifer Roese, Carl Wallace (Stephanie), Chad Wallace (Brittany), Matthew Brantley and Michael Brantley (Caitlyn); and his great grandchildren, Claire Roese, Tyler Wallace, Conner Roese and Branson Wallace.
