John Marshall Rooks, Jr

Augusta, GA – John Marshall Rooks, Jr, 86, husband of Joyce Ann Rooks, entered into rest Monday, April 20, 2015, at the Charles Norwood V. A. Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Reverend Jerry Peele officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Rooks, son of the late John Marshall Rooks, Sr, and Pheriba Brown Rooks, was a native of Metter, GA. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a Prisoner of War and received two Purple Hearts for his service. He retired as a Maintenance Supervisor from Savannah River Plant and attended Burns Memorial United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Michael Rooks.
In addition to his wife, his is survived by his daughter, Rhonda R. Storey (Jerry Counsell), of North Augusta, SC; his sister, Louise Sutton, of Lakeland, GA; his grandchildren, Ransom Rooks (Regina Jenkins), John Michael Rooks, Jr (Jenny), Leslie Ann Cole (Tim), Kristopher Michael Storey (Darlene), and Robert Blake Storey; and seven great grandchildren
Pallbearers will be Ransom Rooks, John Michael Rooks, Kris Storey, Blake Storey, Tim Cole, and Wayne McGowan.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
