Joe Raborn

Augusta, GA – Mr. Joseph “Joe” Raborn, husband of Mrs. Judy Raborn of Peach Orchard Rd., Augusta, entered into rest Saturday, September 27, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors this Monday, today, at 2:00 P.M. with the Reverend Dr. Tobin Burnett officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Raborn, a native of Augusta, was the son of the late William Martin and Inez Phillips Raborn. He worked for McElmurray Properties in maintenance. He was a great husband, father and brother and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Raborn was preceded in death by his sister, Minnie Lee Cadle Jones; and brother-in-law, George Clarke.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his son, Herbert Raborn; daughter and her partner, Peggy Carreon and Karen Woodworth all of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Donnie Layberger of Atlanta, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Franklin and Rosemary Raborn of Hephzibah; sister, Marie Raborn Clarke of Augusta; grandchildren, Dylan and Darian Layberger; and his best friend, Rix Bartlett.
Pallbearers will be, Bruce Cadle, Mike Cadle, William Edgar, Pete Cooper, Oliver Disher and Luther Nichols.

  1. what a great read! I would think A&M is a bit of an anomaly to the SEC bcuseae its uptempo style was more condusive to the Big XII. I’m not sure if TAM would have been as successful in the Big 12 bcuseae they would have faced more teams used to playing against uptempo offenses.West Virginia did well in the Big 12 for a while until facing defenses that had dealt with uptempo offenses.
