Jimmy H. Newman, Sr.
Evans, GA – Jimmy H. Newman, Sr., 85, husband of 66 years to Effie Washington Newman, entered into rest Sunday, October 21, 2018, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018, at 2:00 PM from Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Keith Cox, Reverend John Donaldson, and Pastor Jordan Mims officiating.
Mr. Newman, son of the late William Harold Newman and Georgia Williams Newman, was born in Bath, GA, and retired as an accountant with Borden. He served for 30 years in the United States Marines and then in the Marine Reserves achieving the rank of Sergeant Major. He was a charter member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Men’s Club, the Adult Chancel Choir, and served as Treasurer for the Administrative Board. He was also a member of the Fleming Lions Club for over 50 years and also served as its Treasurer.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy H Newman, Jr..
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Christie McBeath (Mark), of Evans, and Keeley Rogers, also of Evans; his brothers Charles Rhind Newman, of Odenton, MD, and Jerry Newman, of Port Charlotte, FL; his grandchildren, Jennifer Bowlby (Tim), Hollie Mims (Jordan), Casey Borba (Duane), Keith Newman, Joshua Newman (Sheila), and Emily Rogers; and nine great grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Men’s Club, and the Choir.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 27, 2018, following the service at the church.
