Jesse H. Bower, Jr.
Augusta, GA – Jesse H. (Pete) Bower, Jr. 81, husband of Marjorie D. Bower, of Alfred Lane, entered into rest Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the residence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011, at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Dr. Larry Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Bower was born in Virginia and was the son of the late Jesse H. Bower, Sr. and Ida Maude Hurst Bower. He was a member of Southgate Baptist Church. He was past Commander of the American Legion Post #178, and past District Commander for the 11th District of American Legion. He also was past Chef Voituie of the 719 and the 40 & 8.
Mr. Bower served in the US Army and was retired from the printing business. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and an avid hunter in his younger years. An accomplished musician, he enjoyed playing Country and Bluegrass music with his family and many friends.
Mr. Bower was preceded in death by his sons, Raye Bower, Ronnie Bower and Kenny Bower; his daughter, Sissy Callahan; and his step-daughter, Liz Rickerson.
Additional survivors include his daughter, Janet Bower of Augusta; his stepdaughters, Valerie Curry, and her husband Steve, of Augusta, Amy Chesser of St. Petersburg, FL; his stepson, Richard Rickerson Jr. of Augusta; his sisters, Martha Ramsey of Stanton, VA, and Nancy Snead, and her husband, Glenn, of Manassas, VA; and eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great granchildren.
Active Pallbearers will be Ricky Mayton, Corey Mayton, Eric Lever, Shane Bower, Adam Lee and Josh Pinson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Curry and Jimmy Ford.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 7 PM at the funeral home.
