Jane Mobley Flanders

Augusta, GA – Mrs. Jane Mobley Flanders, 62, wife of Charles Douglas Flanders, entered into rest on Thursday, March 29, 2018, at her residence after an extended illness.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at 11:00 AM at St. John United Methodist Church with the Reverends Matthew Nelson and Jody Alderman officiating. A private interment will occur at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 2, 2018, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors.

A lifelong resident of Augusta, graduate of Butler High School and a member of St. John United Methodist Church, she retired from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry after previously working at Rollins Elementary and Daniels Lincoln Mercury. Her passionate support of those battling cancer and her advocacy for the CSRA GYN Cancer Support Group was only surpassed by her love and devotion to all of her family and many friends.

In addition to her husband, Doug, of 42 years, she is survived by her daughter, Leigh Flanders, and her partner, Shawn Parham, of Augusta; her son, David Flanders and his partner, Brett Fields, of New York City; her mother, Ruth Bauguss Mobley; her sister, Carol Capers (Greg); her brother, Jim Mobley (Cheryl); sister-in-law Pam F. Merry (Mike); sister-in-law and best friend, Renee F. Brown (Neal); sister-in-law Carol F. Fronek (Jimmy); a number of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Otis Mobley, parents-in-law Paul and Bea Flanders, and sister-in-law Elaine Mobley.

Honorary pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews: Chris Merry, Anne Nelson, Karen Battista, Richard Fronek, Jamie DeLoach, Ryan Brown, Lisa Blackwell, Jeff Brown, Margaret Mobley-Meulman, and Joseph DeLoach, along with her grand nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lydia Project, 1369 Interstate Parkway, Augusta, GA 30909, www.lydiaproject.org, or to the CSRA GYN Cancer Support Group, PO Box 3485, Augusta, GA 30914.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sharad Ghamande and the staff at the Augusta University Cancer Center for their loving care and support during Mrs. Flanders’ illness.
