James R. McDade, Sr.

Augusta, GA – James R. McDade, Sr, husband of 53 years to Betty F. McDade, entered into rest Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Georgia Regents University Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor Mark Taylor and Pastor Jim Tirko officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. McDade was a native of Richmond County and was self-employed as a plumber. He was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #150. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church where he was involved with crafts during Vacation Bible School. He was the inspiration behind the Church’s Benevolence Fund and headed up the construction of the new addition to the church. He volunteered his time cooking for the Burn Center and he was an avid fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred W. and Virginia Barfoot McDade, and by his sister, Wonnie Langley.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Ronnie McDade (Michele), of Augusta, Mark McDade (Mecal), of New Alexandria, PA, Robert McDade, of Athens, and Matt McDade, of Grovetown; his grandchildren, Madison McDade, Nolan McDade, Liadan McDade, Brandon McDade, and Devin McDade; and his sisters, Cheryl Beauford, and Marquita Hodges, both of Augusta.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie McDade, Mark McDade, Robert McDade, Matt McDade, Alan Williams, Trey Beauford, Tony Crozier, and Christopher Reynolds.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3027 Tobacco Rd, Hephzibah, GA 30815; or to the United Methodist Children’s Home of the North Georgia Conference, 500 S Columbia Dr, Decatur, GA 30030; or to the charity of one’s choice.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 27, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

    Mother and I had planned on seeing you tonight but sickness is keeping us away. Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything either of us can do for you please let us know. We are so very sorry for your loss and we want to remind you that even though your hearts are very heavy. God will keep you, and James is in a better place.
