James Franklin Brittain
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 11:00 AM from Church of the Resurrection, 75 Musser Lane, Muncy, PA, with Father Glenn McCreary officiating.
Inurnment will immediately follow in Muncy Cemetery.
Mr. Brittain was the son of the late Howard Lewis and Vergena O’Brien Brittain. He lived in Augusta, GA, but was born and raised in Muncy, PA. He graduated from Muncy High School in 1952, where he played football, baseball, and wrestled. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps, serving from 1953 to 1954. He then worked from 1954 to 1955 with the FBI, in Washington, DC. In 1955, he was hired at Sprout Waldron, where he worked for 40 years. He was promoted through the company, and retired as Director of Sales and Marketing for Andretz Sprout-Bauer.
Mr. Brittain was inducted into the Muncy High School Hall of Fame in 1985, and subsequently into the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame in 1987. He played softball for Sprout Waldron, officiated wrestling, was an avid rollerskater, and a die-hard Notre Dame fan.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard, and his sisters, Ruth and Christine.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Vicky Wheeland (Todd), of Globe, AZ, Valarie Kepner (Jeffrey), of Augusta, GA, and Julia Brittain-Hulyo (Michael), of Lititz, PA; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; his brother, H. Thomas Brittain, of Muncy, PA; his sister, Shirley Sheesley, of Hugheville, PA; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
The family will receive family and friends at the church, Saturday, April 14, 2018, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service.
