James Dukes

Hephzibah, GA – Mr. James Chandler Dukes, 85, beloved husband of 25 years of Mrs. Jeanette Dukes, entered into rest on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M., with Dr. Dwayne Carter officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.

Mr. Dukes was a native of Greeleyville, SC, the son of the late Weaks and Alice Dukes and had lived in the Augusta area most of his adult life. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his military career he was a mechanic and an owner of Dukes Garage. He loved the outdoors, especially to hunt and fish and he collected 1957 Chevy cars.

Other survivors include his first wife, Mildred Carmichael Dukes; his children, Jack Leon Dukes (Sherry), Wanda Cortez, Dianne Dukes, Patricia Dukes Chancey, Victor James Dukes, Richard Dukes, Michael Dukes and James Chandler “Skeeter” Dukes, Jr.; as well as numerous grand and great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hutchison, Dale Bennett, Jimmy Mullins and Scott Flakes.
