Imogene Herrod Fincannon
Augusta, GA – Imogene Herrod Fincannon, fondly called Jean, met her Savior face to face on Christmas Day 2020. She was 88. She had been under Pruitt hospice care for 11 months.
A private family service was held on Tuesday, December 29, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with Rev. Charlie Deloach officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Her husband, Bill Fincannon, and her daughter, June Fincannon, predeceased her many years ago.
Jean treasured her family. She loved her daughters and taught them the wifely and motherly traits of love of family, southern manners, to cook and sew, and to manage household finances. She sacrificed to give them music lessons. She modeled what a Christian home should be like. Her husband adored her. His smile lit up whenever she entered the room.
Jean treasured her relationship with Jesus. All three of her daughters were led to Christ at a young age by their mother. She taught them to love Him above all else. Missions was a passion for her. Every day she blessed another in some way. She participated in all mission projects of the church, and tended to the needs of neighbors and friends. She often said that when you are feeling down, do something for someone else. She was a former member of Bayvale Baptist Church and currently a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was greatly loved and will be hugely missed.
She is survived by her daughters Nancy (Bill) Dean and Suzan (Bubba) Williams; her much loved grandchildren: Seth (Lauren) Dean, Ellen (John) Coleman, and Heather Williams; and her sweet great-grandchildren: Samuel Coleman, Ella Dean, Ansley Dean, Elijah Dean, and Josiah Dean. Her surviving sisters in her home state of Alabama: Grace Faulkner, Saranel Blackburn, and much loved sister in law and friend Nadine Herrod.
