Harold served in the US Navy from 1975-1979, on the USS Saratoga, one of the Navy’s first aircraft carriers.
Mr. Van Duyn served over 50 years with the Boy Scouts of America. Starting as a young boy in Danville, IL, with Cub Scout Pack 110, earning every award possible for Cub Scouts, until he joined Boy Scout Troop 90, where he earned The Eagle Award.
Harold has served as Scout Master for Troop 182, Course Director for the Woodbadge, and Order of the Arrow in both Danville, IL and Augusta, GA. In his time as a leader, Harold earned the Silver Beaver Award (like both his parents before him), his 50 year pin, and many others.
The last 8 years, Harold was known to many as “Santa”, a roll that he naturally fit, spreading love and peace wherever he went. Santa Harold has brought joy to many people’s homes, the Aiken tree lighting, and even the Polar Express.
