Gloria Jewel Colet

Hephzibah, GA – Gloria Jewel Colet, 82, beloved wife of 54 years to the late Larry Broome Colet, entered into rest Sunday, January 30, 2022, at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM, from the Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend John Donaldson officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Colet, daughter of the late Mildred Story Phillips and William Mundy Phillips, was born in Augusta, GA. She attended Dearing High School (grades 1-10) and graduated from Thomson High School and Palmer Business College.

Things she loved: her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, reading her Bible (read the complete Bible 24 times as of 2022), flowers, Larry, gospel music, gardening, her children, grandchildren, and her cat, “Squeak.”

She attended Iron Hill Advent Christian Church and was a member of Burns Memorial Methodist Church for 58 years, where she was a member of the LaTane Kirkley Circle.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cherie Ciechan; her brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Lanelle Phillips; her sister-in-law, Sue Phillips, late wife of brother Tommy Phillips; brother-in-law Jerry Nickolson, late husband of sister Sherene Nickolson; her sister, Joy Boatwright, late wife of Alex Boatwright.

She is survived by her daughters, Chantey Colet Upton (Gary), of Simpsonville, SC, and Celeste Colet Cash (Joe), of Augusta, GA; her grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua, Luke, John, Rebecca (Jeremy), and Elena; her brother, Tommy Phillips of Wrens, GA; and her sister, Sherene Nickolson of Saluda, SC.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Cash, Joshua Cash, Luke Cash, John Bruni, Joe Cash, and Gary Upton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Phillips and members of the LaTane Kirkley Circle.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, 2372 Lumpkin Rd, Augusta, GA 30906.

The family will receive friends­­­ Saturday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service, at the church.
