Gloria Burns Shea
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 28, 2011, at 1:00 pm from Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Keith Cox, Reverend Greg Glover, and Reverend Chuck Hunt officiating.
Mrs. Shea will lie in state at the church from 12:00 until the hour of service.
Interment will follow in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery, Blythe, GA.
Mrs. Shea, daughter of the late George Edward and Blanche Doster Burns, was born in Scarboro, GA. She was a charter member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, where she taught the Children’s Sunday School Class for many years. She was devoted to her girls and had a unique ability to reach out to people who were hurting or in need. She was our “Queen of Everything,” a Steel Magnolia, and a true Southern Belle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Doster Burns, and her sisters, Betty Burns Lamback, and Doris Burns Bremer.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Saxon Echols, of Augusta, and Jan Saxon Ison, of Blythe; her beloved Maltese, Zack; her sister, Kathryn Ann Burns Lee, of Augusta; her nieces, Joyce Hall, of Young Harris, GA, and Valerie Minnick, of Burleson, TX; her nephews, Charles J. Bremer, of Baton Rouge, LA, Marvin Lamback, of North Augusta, SC, and David Lee, of Augusta; and her dream team of caregivers, Carmen Michelle Pearce, Bonnie Daley, Carmela Wilson, and Annette Sousa.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Lamback, David Lee, Virgil Hathaway, Dick Johnson, Robbie Hewitt, Barry Ward, William Dillabough, and Scott Petroff.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 27, from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
