Gary David James

Hephzibah, GA – Gary David James, 68, entered into rest Thursday, August 30, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 2, 2018, at 3:00 PM from Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 3965 Deans Bridge Road, with Reverend Perry Key and Reverend Wayne Todd officiating. He will lie in state from 2:00 PM until the hour of service.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. James, son of the late Julian W. and Mertie Lee Rowland James, was born in Augusta, and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. He graduated from Hephzibah High School where he played football, where everyone knew him as “Lightning’”. He worked with Gunn Construction Company as a carpenter. He was a very loyal Christian man who loved the Lord, his children, and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Ricky James.

He is survived by his son, Jeremy David James (Marie), of Hephzibah; his daughters, Janece James DiFranco (Brad), of Grovetown, and Jodi Lee James Heise (John), of Martinez; the mother of his children and his loving friend, Deborah James Schofield, of Evans; his brother, Jack James (Ruth), of Hephzibah; his sisters, Doris Bowen (Elmer), of Augusta, Julie Wertz, of Evans, Janelle Black (Archie), of Augusta, and Glenda Sue Ashford (Jerry), of Denver, CO; his grandchildren, Zachariah David James, Jaxon Michael DiFranco, Dawson Roy Heise, Gabriella Helene Williams, Madelyn Shae James, and Sophia Helen DiFranco; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ronald James, Jason James, Patrick Murphy, Allen Raborn, Steve Raborn, Sammy James, Buddy James, Willis Sanders, Mikey Morgan, and William M. Rogers III.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 1, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
