Frances Barkwell Chavous

Villa Rica, GA – Frances Barkwell Chavous, 66, wife of Nathaniel Barry Chavous, entered into rest Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Harbor Grace Hospice, Atlanta, GA.

Graveside services will be held Friday, May 12, 2017, at 1:00 PM from Prickett Cemetery, with Morgan Jones officiating.

Mrs. Chavous, daughter of the late Horace and Ruby Woody Barkwell, was a native of Bremen, GA, and was a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and a wonderful musician and singer. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Travis Lee Stephens, and Emory C. Stephens, Jr.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Tammy Sutton (Ray, Jr), of Dearing, Tara Padilla (Salvador), of Douglasville, Tracy Stephens, of North Carolina, and Tonya Griffin (David), of Dearing; her step parents, Charles and Margaret Whitaker, of Dearing; her special nephew, Frankie Ribich, of Virginia; her special niece, Cheryl Ribich, of Texas; 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Justin Dempsey, Ray Sutton, Jr., Genaro Padilla, and Jimmy Chavous.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at the funeral home.

  1. I will truly miss my Aunt Frances. I love her very much. She always knew how to give me smiles and laughs. Also I loved to hear her sing and play the piano.
