Evelyn Stoppelbein

LaFollette, TN – Evelyn Stoppelbein, wife of the late Vivian Stoppelbein, entered into rest Thursday, January 10, 2013.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Gary DeMore and the Reverend Ronnie Arnold officiating.
Mrs. Stoppelbein, a native of Charleston, SC, had previously made Augusta her home and most recently lived with her son in LaFollette, TN, where she was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred Waldron. She was a homemaker and a former member of St. John United Methodist Church where she had been active in United Methodist Women and had served as past President.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca V. Stoppelbein; as well as a brother, Arthur Waldron; and sister, Mildred Inabinet.
Those surviving her include her sons and daughters-in-law, N. Wayne and Jan Stoppelbein, Hephzibah; Gene and Kay Stoppelbein, LaFollette, TN; brother, Robert Waldron, Nevada; grandchildren, 1LT Scott R. Stoppelbein, Matthew & Jenna Matson, Jenny Matson; and two great grandsons, Lucas Harper and Matthew W. Matson, Jr.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. John United Methodist Church, 736 Greene St., Augusta, GA, 30901 or to the Building Fund of Cedar Hill Baptist Church, 636 Demory Road, LaFollotte, TN, 37766.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

  1. My mother Is Jeanette Stoppelbein and my father was Stephen M.Stoppelbein; both orignally from Chas. SC .My mother lives with my husband Ryan and myself here in Va. My cousin Ken let me know of Evelyns’ passing; we are saddened to hear of another loss from our family . Our thoughts and prayers are sent your way.   2. Gene, we were neighbors growing up in Marion Homes back in the 50’s. Lamar & Jordie Hudson were my parents. I am married to Elam Dudley and live in Evans. I always thought a lot of your parents. We lived in an era where folks took care of their neighbors. I remember your brother as a toddler and remember your sister as well.
