Hephzibah, GA – Robert Eric Schlein, 77, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Doctor’s Hospital.
A graveside service will be held in Hillcrest Memorial Park, at 12:00 P.M., on
Monday, December 28, 2020 with the Reverend Michael Freed officiating. The family will visit with friends at the cemetery after the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Rudell Schlein, as well as his brothers-in-law, Dennis Seago, Charlie Carswell and Bobby Watkins.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Faye Stewart Schlein; his son Tony (Gina); his precious grandchildren, Jordyn and Matthew Schlein; his siblings, Ellen Seago, Dereal Walker (JC), Mary Drawdy (David), Charlie Schlein (Wendy); his brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, Mary Carswell, Edward Stewart (Jeanne), Gene Stewart (Marin), Carol Watkins, Judy Winge (Richard); as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Eric was a 1962 graduate of Hephzibah High School. He served in the U.S. Army from September 1966 until September 1968. He has been employed throughout his life as a salesman for industrial tools and supplies (with Augusta Mill Supply and Augusta Tool and Specialty Co.) In August 1995, he and his son, Tony, opened ET Industrial Supply Company and he continued to work until he became ill in early December. Eric was a Georgia Bulldog fan, an Atlanta Braves fan, and an avid NASCAR fan who loved Dale Earnhardt. He was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, George Walton Masonic Lodge, Augusta Shrine Club, and Alee Temple.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Children’s Hospital of Augusta (1446 Harper St, Augusta, GA 30912), St. Jude Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) and to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
The family would like to thank the emergency room staff, and the ICU doctors and nurses at Doctor’s Hospital for their exceptional care and concern during Eric’s stay. They were extraordinary.
