Elizabeth C. Ray

Augusta, GA – Elizabeth Carolyn Campbell Ray , 94, wife of the late James Woodrow Ray entered into rest Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Keysville Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11:00 A.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Randy F. Carnley and Reverend Darien J. Spivey officiating. Interment will be private.

Mrs. Ray was born in Augusta to the late Guy S. Campbell, Sr., and Emma Carroll. She was a homemaker, caregiver and held various positions and a member of the former South Augusta Pentecostal Holiness Church (Forever Changed Church).

She was preceded in death by her son Ronald P. Ray and a daughter Doris R. Wortham.

Survivors include her children, Janet R. Carnley of Hephzibah, GA, Evelyn R. Spivey of Keysville, GA, SC and Ophelia R. Herbert of Evans,GA; sister, Thelma R. Utley; brother, Vernon Rikard; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 13 great great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Forever Changed Church General fund 2019 Rosier Road Augusta, GA 30906 or your favorite charity.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

  1. I had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Ray because of her weekly appointments in the beauty salon at Keysville. She was always kind and had a sweet calm presence about her all the time. I am so sorry for your loss. We will surely miss her. It was very evident that Jesus lived in her. May God comfort you through this time.
