Edward W. Keene
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Chaplain Finley Limehouse officiating.
Mr. Keene, son of the late Luke and Hattie Pass ons Keene , wa s born August 15, 1922 in Winston County , Mississippi. He was a member of The Bicentennial Chapel of Fort Gordon, GA. As a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 50 years, he worked on various construction projects throughout the United St ates . He was proud of his work experiences and enjoyed relating them to his friends. Reading with a magnifying glass after his eyes became impaired demonstrated his love for reading his Bible. His love of gospel music was also immense. Traveling extensively to attend concerts, Ed would be invited sometimes to ride on the performer’s bus, which pleased him and ind icated the extent of his friendships in gospel circles.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Lachance and her husband, Ferdinand, of Dalzell , SC ; his grandsons, Patrick Lachance, of Fort Leavenworth , KS , and Ryan Lachance, of Irmo , SC ; and his sister, Mary Jewel Mayo, of Louisville , MS .
Special thanks is extended to his long time friend and physician, Dr. Lamar Murray, the administration and staff at the Brentwood Terrace Nursing Facility, and Regency Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care given to Ed the last several months.
