Dr. Mickey Morgan Crouch

Augusta, GA – Dr. Mickey Morgan Crouch went to be with his Maker on July 25, 2013. He was born on March 27, 1935, and was raised in Augusta, GA. After graduating from the Academy of Richmond County he joined the Air Force and served in the medical corps. While stationed in Montgomery, Alabama, he met and married Elizabeth Spicer.
When his four years in the Air Force were up, he attended the University of Georgia, School of Pharmacy where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was Valedictorian of his class. Shortly after graduating, his son, Stan was born, and the family moved back to Augusta. Mickey then decided he wanted to go to medical school and was accepted by the Medical College of Georgia. The night he received his MD degree, his second son, Russell, was born.
Mickey was in general practice with his partner, Frank Randolph, for a couple of years, then went back to do a residency in Psychiatry. After finishing his residency, he worked in the Psychiatry Department at MCG for a few years. He also served as Medical Director in several Georgia mental health clinics where he made life-long friends. Mickey retired from Georgia Regional Hospital in 1998. He was named in “Who’s Who in Georgia” in 1973.
Mickey was an active member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church where he served as chairman of the finance committee, was a member of the United Methodist Men’s Club and served as an usher. He was a member of the Wednesday morning Bible study and past member of the Fellowship Sunday school class.
He enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including fishing, raising aquarium fish and orchids, and building and flying remote control airplanes. And he was a lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan.
Mickey was a loving husband and father who was devoted to his family. He loved spending time hunting, fly fishing and viewing wild life with his son and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling with his brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Gloria Crouch, sister-in-law Edna Humphrey and with his friends, Tom and Fran Spitzer and Tom and Helen Wade.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanford and Hazel Crouch, his son Russell Morgan Crouch, and a younger brother, Michael Bruce Crouch.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his son William Stanford Crouch (Donna), granddaughter, April Morgan Raley (Matt), grandson, Ryan Stanford Crouch (girlfriend, Lacey Copeland), and great grandchild, McKinzey Lynn Raley, brother, Stanford Stanley Crouch (Gloria), nieces, Donna Willis and Julia Hoskins, three grand nephews, John Austin Willis (Aubrey), Cory Willis, and Zachary Hoskins, one grand niece, Chelsey Hoskins, one great grand niece, Tatum Willis and one great grand nephew, Rowan Willis.
Visitation will be Monday, July 29, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 11:00 AM with Reverend Keith Cox officiating, from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Crouch, Matt Raley, Brian Dozier, Jerry Ferguson, Travis Doss, Harold Hoover, and Rick Fletcher.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the United Methodist Men’s Club.
