David Randall McConnell

Augusta, GA  – David Randall McConnell, 60, husband of Travis Mainer, entered into rest Sunday, February 27, 2022, at his Residence.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM, at Metropolitan Community Church of Our Redeemer with Reverend Marc Trimm officiating.

Entombment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mr. McConnell, son of the late Mary Lou Jones Jenkins, was born in Austin, TX. He was a self-employed cosmetologist and a member of Metropolitan Community Church of Our Redeemer.

He was preceded in death by Tommy Taylor.

In addition to his husband, he is survived by his sister, Kathi Hicks (Jimmy); his niece, Chelsea Bare (Robert); his great-nephew and great-nieces, Jackson Bare, Lainey Bare, Gracie Bare.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 10:00 AM until time of service.

  4. Oh Travis, I am so sorry to hear of our Dear David’s loss. My heart goes out to you. David was such a wonderful man and friend. I was a client of his for at least 30 years, followed him wherever he would go because I trusted him with my hair. My prayers and thoughts are with you during this time of great loss.

  5. Travis I am beyond sad about David’s passing. He was such a wonderful person. I taught him many years ago and he did my hair for some years. My heart hurts for you in your loss and my heart hurt for his leaving us way too soon. May God give you comfort and hold you in his hands as you go through the coming days.

  7. Sending love and prayers to David’s family. I was a client of Davids’s since the 80s (Glemby Salon), and was so proud to call him friend. Such a kind, caring, and compassionate man, not to mention a very talented hair stylist. He will be missed by so many. I will always remember him fondly. Hoping his family finds peace, knowing he was loved and respected by so many.

  8. I’m sad to learn of his passing.
    Although I didn’t get to know him well I always looked forward to seeing him at the salon, he was always smiling and had a very upbeat friendly personality.He enjoyed reading while waiting on his next client and spoke to people as though he knew them for years even though he just met them. My sincere condolences to Travis and his extended family and his dearest friends.

  9. Travis..I am heartbroken to learn of David’s passing. He was a wonderful, beautiful person. I was his client for 28 years and also considered him a dear friend. He was loved by so many, and I pray you will find strength each day as you grieve.
