David Ralph Hughes

West Palm Beach, FL – David Ralph Hughes, 89, husband of the late Marjorie B. Hughes and of Augusta, entered into rest, Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center – Palm Beach.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from the graveside in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Todd Wiggins officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Hughes, son of the late Joseph R. and Cora Lee Pittillo Hughes, lived in Augusta most of his life. Mr. Hughes served his country in the U.S Navy during World War II. He worked as a supervisor for the Phoenix Commercial Printing Company. He had been a member of Fleming Baptist Church and of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Bill Evans Sunday School Class. He was a faithful Christian who ministered to the sick and homebound.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Wayne Hughes; his sister, Mary Kirk; and his brother, Bill Hughes.

Mr. Hughes is survived by his son, Randy Hughes and his wife, Linda of Palm City, FL; sister, Charlotte Brown and her husband Irvin of Baltimore, MD; his brother-in-law, Dwight Burch and his wife Laverne of Augusta; grandsons, Jason R. Hughes and his wife Hilary of Jensen Beach, FL, and Brandon T. Hughes and his fiance’ Michele of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
