David “Dave” Hamilton

Grovetown, GA – David “Dave” Hamilton, 84, loving husband of Glenda Bradford Hamilton, entered into rest Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 11:00 AM from Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 5555 Hereford Farm Rd, Evans, GA, with Reverend Eddie Bradford officiating. Due to the Covid pandemic, attendees are asked to wear masks and socially distance as per CDC.
Mr. Hamilton, son of the late Laura Mills Hamilton and Gordon Hamilton, was born in Augusta and was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.  He was a graduate of Richmond Academy and worked as traffic manager for 28 years with Columbia Nitrogen. He retired from the City of Augusta at the pumping station, was a bailiff for the Richmond County Tag Office, and a greeter and funeral assistant at Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors.  He was a member of the National Guard and was the Secretary-Treasurer for the Augusta Traffic and Transportation Club.  He was the best Pee-Paw ever and enjoyed handing out candy to those who shared his sweet-tooth.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael D. Hamilton; his brother, Johnnie Hamilton; and his sister, Patsy Tankersley.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lisa Hamilton Marcano, and Wendy McGahee (Houston); his grandchildren, Ashton Fields (Cisco), Alex Gill, Anna Gill, Andrew Gill, and Avery Gill, Kollin Karson, and Tyler McGahee; great granddaughters, Khalia and Kinsley Fields; his brother, Wayne Hamilton (Kay), of Evans; his sister, Marian Amerson, of Warrenville, SC; his mother-in-law, Alice “Jane” Maddox, of Martinez; his step mother-in-law, Mary Bradford, of Orangeburg, SC; his brother-in-law, Norman Tankersley, of Alachua, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Durrence Family.
The family will receive friends Saturday, November 21st, from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at the church.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Phillip Kennedy and his staff, and to Encompass Hospice, for their compassionate care during his illness.
