Dana Lynn Shire

Augusta, GA – Dana Lynn Shire, 50, wife of Jason Shire, entered into rest Sunday, October 3, 2021.

Mrs. Shire, daughter of the late Ervin Ambrose Gay and Patricia Ann Gay, was born in Augusta, GA. She was a homemaker and a military wife who loved Hawaii and
Germany. She loved to cook, do arts & crafts, and spend time sharing stories with family and friends.

Dana and Jason Shire met in Hinesville, Ga. in 1994 and married in 1995. They spent their early years traveling due to Jason’s military career and raising their daughter Ashley. In 1996, while in Germany, their son Andrew was born before moving to Augusta. They raised their family in Augusta for 11 years before moving to Hawaii in 2009. Hawaii was Dana’s favorite place and she always talked about going back. After
spending 4 years in Hawaii, Dana and her family moved back to Augusta to be with her family.

She was preceded in death by two of her siblings, Lani Renee Smith and Ervin Ambrose Gay, Jr.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Jason Andrew Shire (Alyssa); daughter, Ashley McDaniel; grandchildren, Bryce and Adyson McDaniel; her siblings, Margaret Ann Barker (John), Coleman I. Gay (Brandy); and many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved very much.

  1. Dana was a true sweetheart and had a heart of gold. She will be forever missed by her family. She’s dancing in the sky with all those who have gone on before her. Living without pain with our heavenly father what day it will be to see him face to face.
