Curtis Reeves Chafin

Augusta, GA – Curtis Reeves Chafin, 89, wife of the late Miles Lewis Chafin and daughter of the late Conley and Bridie Jenkins Reeves, entered into rest Saturday, August 16, 2014, at NHC Healthcare, North Augusta.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Jerry Peele officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Chafin was born in Burke County, Georgia and graduated from Waynesboro High School class of 1942. She attended Hurst Business College in Augusta. She was employed as Secretary by the Georgia & Florida Railroad for 16 years and by the Burns Memorial United Methodist Church Preschool & Day Care Center as Secretary/Bookkeeper for 38 years. She was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and held various offices in United Methodist Women and the Carolyn Johnson Circle.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Reeves.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Chafin, of Aiken, SC; her son, Alan (Carolyn) Chafin, of Martinez, GA; her grandchildren, Travis Moseley, of Aiken, and Ashley, Holly, and Brett Chafin, of Martinez; her brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Christine Reeves, of Keysville, GA, a number of nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Laura Adams, Shirley Grimaud, and Pat Clark.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Carolyn Johnson Circle.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, 2372 Lumpkin Rd, Augusta, GA 30906.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 18, 2014, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
