Constance Avanelle Wilson
Connie was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 30, 1922, to Edgar Robinson and
Avanelle White. She graduated from Amundsen High School in Chicago. She formerly resided in Charleston, South Carolina, where she worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of the Arts at the Charleston County School District office for 15 years before she retired. She moved to Appling, GA, in 2009 to reside with her daughter, Laura. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who always had a smile on her face. She attended the Grovetown Senior Center and was a member of Damascus Baptist Church where she loved to play Canasta with her church family and friends. She also loved to knit and cross-stich.
Connie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Clyde Wilson, Jr., in 2005. She is survived by her two daughters, Laura Phillips of Appling, GA, and Carol Ward of Hamilton, New Jersey; a sister, Teresa Silber-Jensen of Pembroke Pines, Florida; a nephew, Calvin Silber; three nieces, Nona Yackel, Robin Western, and Jill Ann Sheridan; four grandchildren, William Ward Jr., Wendy Nuel, Warren Ward, and Charles McCraw IV; and ten great-grandchildren, William Ward III, Cody Ward, Jeremy Ward, Ashley Nuel, Richard Nuel, Kyle Nuel, Justin Ward, Travis Ward, Charles McCraw V, and Norah McCraw.
Memorial services will be held 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Damascus Baptist Church in Appling. Burial services will be private at North Meadowlawn Cemetery in New Port Richey, Florida.
