Charline B. Hammel

Evans, GA – Mrs. Charline Barnes Hammel, 86, wife of the late Paul Jonathan Hammel entered into rest Sunday, August 10, 2014 at her residence.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 5:00 P.M., in the Church of Our Saviour with The Reverend John R. West, Jr., officiating. Interment will be on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 3:00 P.M., in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, TN.

She was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Clarence and Aline Alverson Barnes. She was a homemaker and a volunteer for the American Red Cross at Erlanger Hospital. She was also a member of Red Bank Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN.

Survivors include her children, John Hammel of Bloomington, IN and Kathy Lightner of Evans, GA; grandchildren, Anna Claire Lightner, Caitlin Lightner, Paul Jonathan Hammel and Stephanie Burress.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 106 SRP Drive Evans, GA 30809 or the American Cancer Society 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, GA 30909.

    I was Blessed with two. Charline was the best Mother In Law
    a girl could ask for.
    She will always hold a special place in my heart.
    She was truly invaluable. And I will always Cherish
    the fond memories of her in my heart.
    Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
