Charles David Mims
Funeral Services will be held from the Chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverends Tim Thompson, Nellie Thompson and Pauline Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Mims was born in Hephzibah, GA on November 21, 1931. Mr. Mims sold insurance for Interstate Insurance Company, worked at Gracewood State School and Hospital, as a meat cutter and later as an attendant. He was self employed until he became disabled in 1985. He enjoyed going to the flea market/auctions, buying and reselling golf carts and lawn mowers.
Survivors include his four children, Glenn David Mims (Brenda), Augusta, GA.; Nellie Mims Thompson (Tim), Augusta, GA.; Charles Lindsey Mims (Tina), Beech Island, SC; Betty Mims Miller (James), Augusta, GA; one brother; William Miller Mims (Margaret), Augusta, GA; eleven grandchildren, Nick W. Mims (Jami), Brian D. Mims, Leslie M. Johnston (Burke), Lindsay R. Hicks (Joey), Melissa K. Headen (Joe), Glenda L. Thaxton, April M. Mims, J. Stephen Miller (Morgan), David C. Miller, Jesse G. Mims, Josh R. Miller; eighteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick Henry Mims and Nellie Ray Mims, both of Hephzibah, GA.; five brothers, Frederick Henry Mims, Jr. (Catherine), Augusta; Thomas Watson Mims (Nona), Hephzibah; Robert Leslie Mims (Mary), Augusta; Jabe Virgil Mims (Becky), Hephzibah; John Benjamin Mims (Wilma), Millen; four sisters, Mary Mims Davis (Jim), Augusta; Virginia Mims Dorn (Louis), Augusta; Lucy Mims McKellar (Leonard), Augusta; and Nellie Sue Mims, Hephzibah.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Nick Mims, Brian Mims, Stephen Miller, David Miller, Jessie Mims and Josh Miller.
