Charles “Curt” Strickland

St. John Towers, Augusta, GA –  84, Charles “Curt” Strickland, husband of Patricia “Patty” L. Fairchild Strickland, born to the late Roberta and Euel

Curt served his community well by teaching Sunday School at Hull Baptist Church. He was the Vice President and Program Chairman of the Optimist Club of Augusta. He served as Secretary and Treasurer for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 45. At
the Augusta YMCA, he was assistant coach to Baseball and Soccer teams. At First Baptist Church in Augusta, he served on the Stewardship Committee. He served on the Board of Directors for Easter Seals in Augusta. He was also a Board Member for the CSRA Family Counseling Center. Curt served as President of Uptown Kiwanis Club in Augusta. At St John United Methodist Church, he oversaw the lake ministry “Chapel in the Pines” and for the lake property itself for 10 years, served on the Board of
Trustees and was the youth minister for several years. Later in life, he and his wife Patty volunteered for the Red Cross. They traveled all over the United States, including working at Ground Zero in 2001. In 2012, Curt and Patty were presented with the “Spirit of the Red Cross Hero” Award. Curt worked as a Senior Sales Representative for Burroughs/UNISYS, Augusta for 22 years. Afterwards, he worked as a Loan Originator for Augusta Mortgage Company and Dime Mortgage for 10 years. He also worked as Sales Representative at Johnson Motor Company, Augusta. He graduated from University of Georgia and loved his Dawgs!

In Addition to his wife, he is survived by, his sons, Steve Strickland, and Rob Strickland (Beth) from Augusta; Daughters, Teri Shepherd (Guy) from Augusta and Mindy Horn (Mark) from Macon, GA.; his grandchildren, Kristopher Shepherd (Terra), Bryan Horn, Ben Strickland, Jackson Strickland, Caroline Horn and Ava Strickland, Jacob Best, Andrew Best and Heather Best; his great grandchildren, Paisley Shepherd and Wyatt Shepherd.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be, The Turner Marks Sunday School Class (aka “The Misfits”), Gene and Holly Renno and family members.

Service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 3:00pm at St. John United Methodist Church.

Gathering following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. The family wishes to have a private burial.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John United Methodist Church Lake Ministry or the Foundation of Wesley Woods/St. John Towers.
