Charles “Chuck” Howard Rumfelt Jr

Martinez, GA – Charles “Chuck” Howard Rumfelt Jr, 70, husband of Dianne Smith Rumfelt, entered into rest Sunday, October 19, 2014, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at 4:00 PM from Hopeful Baptist Church, 2973 Winter Rd, Blythe, GA 30805, with Reverend Greg Glover officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hopeful Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Rumfelt, son of the late Charles Howard, Sr, and Mildred McCullough Rumfelt, was born in Jackson, MS. He served in the United States Navy in active duty from 1965 – 1969, and then in the Naval Reserve. During his naval career he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He also worked as a claims adjuster for Travelers Insurance. He was a faithful member and trustee of Hopeful Baptist Church where he served in numerous positions, including Sunday School Assistant Director, groundskeeper, historian, and the brotherhood of the church. He was also a volunteer with Broad Street Ministry and an auctioneer.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Charles Howard “Chip” Rumfelt, III, and his wife, Joan; his daughters, Robin Jaquess and Lynne Rumfelt; his brother, Curtis Rumfelt, his sisters, Sandra Trimble, and her husband, Dennis, and Gladys Hanser, and her husband, Ray; his grandchildren, Corey Gibson, Ashleigh Jaquess, Kelsey Jaquess, Charles Rumfelt, Steven Rumfelt, James Rumfelt, Joseph Rumfelt, and Catherine Rumfelt.

Active pallbearers will be Dennis Cheeks, Jim Junker, John Williams, Mitch Wall, Jack Clark, and Larry Cliatt.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Stinchcomb, Bobby Lowe, Buddy Marks, and Bobby Salter.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 3:00 PM until the hour of service at Hopeful Baptist Church.
