Carol Nilson Seales

Martinez, GA – Carol Nilson Seales, 66, entered into rest after a brave battle with cancer Friday, October 5, 2018, at The Place at Martinez.

Memorial services will be held Monday, October 8, 2018, at 2:00 PM from First Presbyterian Church, 642 Telfair Street, with Reverend Jim Knight and Reverend Mike Phillips officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service at the church.

Ms. Seales, daughter of the late Kenneth B. and Margaret Gurney Nilson, was born in Savannah, but lived in the Augusta area for most of her life. She enjoyed being involved with her church, First Presbyterian, and spending time with her family at the beach going shopping and eating shrimp.

She is survived by her sisters, Kristine Nilson (Tom), of Richmond Hill, GA, and Barbara Metts (Carlisle), of Leesburg, GA; her nephews, Kenny Everette, of Sevierville, TN, Carter Metts (Renee), of Dover, FL, and Adam Metts (Margaret), of Normangee, TX; her great nieces, Savannah Metts, of FL, and Ashley Wax, of TX; her great nephews, Mason Metts, of FL, Maverick Metts, of FL, Damon Byrum, of AR, and Adam Wax, of TX; her aunt, Ann Gurney, of Durham, NC; her uncle, Lennart Nilson (Gloria), of Red Bank, NJ; and her cousins, Jenny Gurney (her loving and dedicated cousin), of Cumming, GA, Greg Gurney, of Wilmington, NC, Jeff Gurney, of New Bern, NC, Judi Oosthuizen (Will), of Durham, NC, and Lenny Nilson, of Red Bank, NJ.

The family wishes to express thanks to her special friends, Laura Miller and Teri Perry; all of her church friends, especially Jill Blair and Lauren Griffing; Dr. Wells and staff; Dr. Campbell and staff: Ann Tapley and caregivers at Tapley’s PCH; and the many others who provided her with care, transportation, and love over the years.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Deacons’ Mercy Fund, or Helping Hands Fund, 615 Telfair St, Augusta, GA 30901. The Deacons’ Mercy Fund is to assist church members facing financial hardship. Helping Hands Fund is for ministry to children with special needs.
