Augusta, GA – Captain Thomas C. “Tommy” Cox, husband of Sandra A. Cox, of Country Place Dr., entered into rest Monday, March 5, 2012.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 8, at 1:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Pastor Joe Lennon and Pastor Richard Money officiating.
Interment, with honors by the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department, will be in Westover Memorial Park.
Capt. Cox, son of the late Thomas W. and Mary Louise Johnson Cox, was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta. He had worked for the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department for forty two years and had been the chaplain of the Department for the past five and a half years. He was the Chaplain of the Savannah River Power Squadron a member of the Fleming Lions Club, the Augusta First Chuch of the Nazarene where he served as the Church Board Secretary, as the Sunday School Superintendant, taught Sunday School, served in the Bread Ministry, and the Compassionate Ministries of the Nazarene Church. Capt Cox also served on the District Board and was the leader of the church when the Pastor was absent.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy D. and Jeff Rodriguez of Augusta; grandchildren, Chad Kincade, Timothy Free, Adam Rodriguez and Amanda Rodriguez; cousins, Dorothy Rhodes of Chester, SC and Terry Ann Harris; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Betty Jean Money of Houston, TX.
Pallbearers will be, Lt. Troy Milam, Sgt. Mark Williams, Lt. Lonnie Dozier, S.O. Chief Wayne Taylor, F.F. Frankie Hall, Lt. Thomas Stokes, Batt. Chief Ivan Bolgla and Capt. Jay Womack.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta-Richmond County Fire Department.
The family will receive friends this Wednesday, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
