Anthony “Tony” McCarty

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 2-4 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. with the Reverend Charlie DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley, SC.
A native of Augusta, and lifelong resident of the C.S.R.A., Tony was the son of the late David Smith McCarty, Sr. and Eileen Hamlin Hilderbrandt. He was a machinist and tool and die maker by trade and could also make or fix anything. He was a member of Bayvale Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Endless Flight Band, which he used to share his message of recovery through a prison band ministry. He loved all types of music, to play guitar and had also been a member of the band Borderline. He also was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed riding with his sons. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernie McCarty.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McCarty is survived by his sons, Michael Johnson, Eric McCarty, Cody McCarty and Clay McCarty; his brother, David S. McCarty, Jr. (Kim); his sister, Amy James (Douglas); and his grandchildren, Chase McCarty, Bentley McCarty, Camryn Martinez and Liam Johnson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Bully4You Rescue & Rehabilitation Animal Rescue.

I could never express my deepest sorrow for the passing of Tony. He was a great friend and brother-in- law. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. My heart reaches out to my sister and my nephews. My God grant y’all comfort. I love you all.
