Anthony “Tony” McCarty

Grovetown, GA – Anthony “Tony” McCarty, 56, beloved husband of Mrs. Eva Pharr McCarty, entered into rest on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Doctor’s Hospital.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 2-4 pm at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 3:00 P.M. with the Reverend Charlie DeLoach officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens, Langley, SC.
A native of Augusta, and lifelong resident of the C.S.R.A., Tony was the son of the late David Smith McCarty, Sr. and Eileen Hamlin Hilderbrandt. He was a machinist and tool and die maker by trade and could also make or fix anything. He was a member of Bayvale Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Endless Flight Band, which he used to share his message of recovery through a prison band ministry. He loved all types of music, to play guitar and had also been a member of the band Borderline. He also was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed riding with his sons.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernie McCarty.
In addition to his wife, Mr. McCarty is survived by his sons, Michael Johnson, Eric McCarty, Cody McCarty and Clay McCarty; his brother, David S. McCarty, Jr. (Kim); his sister, Amy James (Douglas); and his grandchildren, Chase McCarty, Bentley McCarty, Camryn Martinez and Liam Johnson.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Bully4You Rescue & Rehabilitation Animal Rescue.

  1. I could never express my deepest sorrow for the passing of Tony. He was a great friend and brother-in- law. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. My heart reaches out to my sister and my nephews. My God grant y’all comfort. I love you all.

  2. Tony is my best friend, teacher and mentor on guitar. I cherish the time we had together, although it was way to short. Fly high my guitar hero!!! I love you!

  3. Our hearts 💕 and condolences go out to Eva, Clay, Cody. What few conversations that we had with Tony in person were wonderful! We could tell that he was a loving ❤ & caring “Man”! Sincerely, Robin & Selda!

  4. May God wrap his loving arms around you with a peace and comfort only he can give So sorry for your loss. My husband Billy worked with him at TAW and really thought alot of him. He was a very nice guy. We just saw this on Facebook today, so sorry we missed the visitation and service. You’re in our thoughts & prayers
