Anne Pearre Smith Ansley
Augusta, GA – Anne Pearre Smith Ansley, 90, wife of the late Lonnie Smith and Wilmer Ansley, entered into rest Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 16, at 2:00 pm from Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Cox officiating. She will lie in state from 1:00 pm until the hour of the service.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ansley, known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren, was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Margaret Cornelia Rosier Pearre. She was a lifelong resident of Augusta and worked as a Bus Driver for the Richmond County Board of Education. She was a charter member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Christine Scott Circle, and the Happy Club; and where she sang in the choir for many years. She was also a member of the Hephzibah Chapter #463 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Fleming Homemakers Club.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Judith Dedman; her son Lonnie Jerome Smith; her grandson Jason Eric Mills; her sisters Adele Griffin, Gloria Reese, Dorothy Gaskill, and Janice Johnikin; and her brother Buddy Pearre.
She is survived by her daughters Joan Mills (John) and Cheryl Sanders (Willis); her grandchildren Pearre Scott Dedman (Tina M), Julie Dedman Miller (Mark), Tommy Lane (Carla), Michael Mills (Tamara), Lonnie Mills, John Herman Mills (Jennifer), Rachel Wiggins (Brian), Robyn Brantley (Mell), Melissa Anne Chesser (David); her great grandchildren Nikki Dedman, Alea Dedman, Logan Miller, Savannah Lane, Noah Mills, Cora Gregory, Kaitlyn Mills, Hayden Mills, Justin Mills, Garrett Wiggins, Hunter Brantley, Davis Brantley, Madison Chesser, and Megan Chesser; her great great grandchild Michael Gregory; her sister Vera Griffin; her sister in law Nell Luke, of Langley, SC; her stepchildren Rick Ansley and Pam Evans, both of Atlanta; and her step grandchildren Ethan Baurs, Avrey Miller, and Thomas Lane.
Pallbearers will be Walter Gaskill, Jr, Jimmy Washington, Reuben Chance, Franklin Davis, Charlie Griffin, Jr. and Jay Womack.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Christine Scott Circle, Jimmy and Effie Newman, Charlie Webster, Larry Sconyers, Fran Munnerlyn, Dot Stewart, Mickey and Lib Crouch, and Gerry Videtto.
